Popularity of AI studio profiles has people asking to use them as resume headshots

Article: "Can we use this on our resumes?" AI profile pictures are all the rage

Source: Han via Naver

[+695, -6] You know what, please just use it so that we can trash your resume first thing

[+298, -3] Your resume is not a pretty contest, it's just a measure of checking that you are who you are. Why would showing up with a complete different face help that?

[+174, -7] Come on, guys... let's not be this dumb. I'm actually scared that there are really people out there considering to use these AI profiles on their resumes...

[+102, -1] Be honest, if you saw this, would you hire yourself? You'd just think someone else walked in, please leave the room until it's your turn.

[+94, -4] The fact that anyone is asking this question... I'm actually in awe...

[+21, -0] I bet the ones asking are the ones who look the most different from their AI results ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

[+14, -0] I've never in my life seen anyone who looks like their pictures on Instagram...

[+8, -0] SNS is really ruining us

[+4, -0] Anyone with a normal brain wouldn't think of using this on their resumes...

New AI 'photo studio filter' is all the rage

Article: "Looks like quality out of a photo studio"... new AI filter that creates 'Jang Won Young profile' in 20 minutes

Source: Han via Naver

[+1,193, -13] Can we just get rid of profile pictures in job applications? These pictures are all filtered to fraud levels anyway, no? Just wait until the interview to see what someone looks like?

[+559, -15] I think what's sadder is that some people really think that this is what they look like. We're going to see more people preferring to live life through the camera lens instead of their mirror.

[+152, -6] Some of the pictures do look similar but there's always something off about them!!

[+113, -10] Most of these filters end up looking like a completely different person with maybe 0.00002% of the essence of the original person... ㅎㅎ but it is fun to try~

[+38, -0] I'm an ajumma in my forties. I paid 6,600 won out of curiosity and ended up not being able to use any of them because they came out so weird ㅋㅋ it made me look like I was in my early twenties;;

[+24, -2] What's funny is that everyone I know has this as their new profile picture but they all look completely different from the filter ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

[+23, -1] I see so many women using this filter as their profile right now and it's actually scary because they all look alike;;

[+19, -0] You're better off just going to a photo studio and letting them photoshop you. This filter turns you into a complete stranger.

[+8, -1] I saw my friend use it and the end results... don't have her face at all. Even my friend admitted it looked like way too much photoshop... I don't think anyone would recognize you if you actually used this in your applications...

Unmanned convenience stores are on the rise, but what's the theft situation actually like?

Article: New unmanned stores opening at five times the rate in three years... "Theft? Still cheaper than paying employees"

Source: Joongang Ilbo via Nate

[+494, -18] I think these stores should still invest in vending machines and force people to pay before getting access to the product

[+428, -16] Or allow entry to the stores only to people who swipe their cards first. Even if someone runs away with more than they paid for, you still have their card on record.

[+396, -9] It takes a long time but the thieves all eventually get caught. I remember my town had a guy go in with a mask, hat, and glasses to steal and he was caught ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Got his picture hung up by the store along with step-by-step updates of his criminal case ㅋㅋㅋㅋ I still go to that store often and I see all of the customers look at his picture and laugh ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

[+28, -1] Nothing like employee expenses to scare a business owner

[+24, -2] These businesses need to do more to combat theft. They can't just expect police to be waiting around at their beck and call. There needs to be a minimum level of effort in preventing theft on their end first. These unmanned stores expect too much.

[+24, -8] Well, people are just going to steal more if these businesses are saying they're still coming out ahead by saving on employee costs

[+13, -1] Most of the unmanned stores in my town are closing down~ They've all competed each other in prices to the ground. Actual convenience stores end up being cheaper for the same product~

[+6, -0] It would probably cost these stores about 6 million won a month to keep an employee on site, and I doubt they're suffering more than 6 million won in losses anyway

[+5, -2] These stores need to forfeit their right to report theft, then. They may get away with a net profit by not having to keep an employee on site but they're just creating more busy work for our police in the end.

Three Hybe staff under investigation for insider trading off confidential information of BTS hiatus

Article: Hybe staff caught selling stock after finding out of 'BTS hiatus'

Source: Wikitree via Instagram

[+563] This company has issues with everything but its artists

[+207] ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ That's just great. What are they doing off the hard work of BTS' success?

[+193] Hybe's just rotten to the core, aren't they?

[+108] I'm gonna be honest, I'd be tempted to sell too

[+84] This needs to be punished severely

[+72] So what happens, then? They have to give up all their money to stay out of jail?

[+21] I'm sure the temptation to sell must've been strong since they knew that the prices would drop immediately after the announcement...

[+14] I wish BTS would just leave and set up their own company ㅠㅠ

[+13] Americans punish insider traders with up to life imprisonment but Koreans treat it like some light crime with a punishment of probation. Sh*t, I'd want to hit jackpot with insider trading, too, knowing what we know about our legal system. It's because all of our politicians are involved with insider trading that they let the rest of us hang to die;;

[+8] You'd be crazy to hold on to it after coming across such information

[+2] I think I would've wanted to sell, too

[+2] That's so shameless ㅠㅋㅋㅋ

[+1] Just Hybe being Hybe...

Jessica's 'Blanc & Eclare' store is in court for failing to pay make rent

Article: SNSD Jessica's fashion brand fails to pay rent, 'forced execution procedure'

Source: Asia Economy via Naver

[+638, -4] The actual victim in this is the building owner but she's spewing all this bull acting like she's the victim

[+214, -5] So I read through the article and my vote goes to the building owner ㅋ Tyler Kwon, stop being stubborn. The world of business is not something you can just bluff your way through. How can you prove that your business would've had more sales if elevators were able to operate past 10 p.m.? ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
- [+24, -0] Seriously, who's even going to stores to buy clothes past 10 p.m. ㅋ

[+190, -1] Date the right people, ladies... or you'll end up a fool like this ㅎㅎㅎ

[+107, -3] You reap what you sow~ ㅋ

[+37, -1] Why is the business arguing that COVID impacted the restaurant industry? What does that have anything to do with a fashion brand? ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ And obviously you didn't get your deposit back because you didn't pay your rent ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

[+30, -0] Asking for the deposit back when the building owner kept it because you didn't pay your rent... these people, I swear

[+22, -0] Jessica has always given me the impression of someone who knew nothing about business but ran into it with only her bloated self-confidence and completely failed, tsk tsk

[+17, -1] The thing about businesses like hers where it's completely reliant on her image + network alone... they never do well longterm...

[+17, -1] How can the business be so shameless? The building owner is not at fault for your inability to pay your rent on time. Blaming COVID, the economy... but they never blame themselves.

[+15, -0] They're really arguing that elevators not working past 10 p.m. impacted their sales? Who's even buying clothes that late at night? Are they operating in Dongdaemun??

[+14, -1] To think that she could be living a life like Taeyeon's right now if she had just stayed in SNSD

[+12, -0] Can you really call yourself an active business if you haven't been able to make rent in three months? Sure, I'd understand up to two months, but I don't think any building owner should be expected to wait around past three months. That's a problem with your business.

[+161] How'd she end up like this... If only she had kept her own greed in check, she could still be living under the SNSD title as a top-grade celebrity

[+82] Wow, she left in 2014 so it's already been 10 years? ㅋㅋㅋ Time sure flies...

[+69] She wouldn't be in this situation if she wasn't delusional enough to think that SNSD's popularity was her own ㅋㅋㅋ Jessica was always going to be one of the members who never would've been able to survive on their own outside of the group's umbrella ㅋㅋ

[+44] She thought starting her own brand would give some prestige to her solo career but she utterly failed. She knew that opening the store anywhere wouldn't give her the image she desired so she went out of her means to open it in Cheongdam and is now facing a situation where sales are so bad, she hasn't even been able to make rent. She's gotta make money somehow which is probably why she's over in China doing talent shows... tsk tsk.

[+43] If she had stayed in SNSD, she wouldn't even be in debt right now

[+39] She was always better under SNSD...

[+46] Her situation right now could be a lot different if she didn't let her greed get in the way back then. All of the SNSD members may be under different agencies now but are still in contact and collabing together all the time. I don't feel bad for her, though. If anything, it puts the other SNSD members in an even brighter light. They didn't let one member leaving shake them and continue to support one another on their various paths.

New Jeans' director Min Hee Jin joins the list of top female stockholders in the country

Article: 'New Jeans' creator Min Hee Jin joins the list of top female stockholders... top 3 remain Samsung's three ladies

Source: iNews 24 via Naver

Top 10 female stockholders from the families of:

1. Samsung [mother]
2. Samsung [daughter]
3. Samsung [daughter]
4. SK Group [sister of CEO]
5. LG [mother]
6. LG [daughter]
7. Shinsegye [mother]
8. Shinsegye [daughter]
9. Orion [vice-chairman]
10. EcoPro [sister of CEO]

Out of the 417 names, only 34 women were not related to chaebol families, most notably including Naver CEO Choi Soo Yeon and Hybe/Adore's CEO Min Hee Jin.

-

[+930, -21] What's more amazing about her is that she didn't inherit her wealth, she built it all on her own

[+238, -8] It's Always amazing to hear stories of people who grew within their industries and slowly built themselves up instead of the usual inheritance/chaebol family story of wealth.

[+159, -16] A great example of education not being the only solution to life. It's always best to specialize in what you're personally skilled and talented in.

[+79, -6] Her name being up there is a completely different thing. All those names are people inheriting from chaebol families, whereas she's self-made.

[+46, -1] She's effectively #1 on that list if you filter out all the chaebol inheritances

[+55, -34] Hee Jin unni's the real deal for sure

[+18, -0] I heard she started her career literally at the entry level, it's amazing

[+15, -1] A true self-made woman

[+8, -1] Filter out all the people born into inheritances and powerful parents and Min Hee Jin will be #1 in the country. She reached the top through her own work ethic alone. She deserves it.

[+8, -2] How can you compare her to other names who have accomplished nothing other than being born with a golden spoon? The worth of her wealth is completely different.

[+6, -2] Thank you for creating New Jeans!

[+4, -0] This is the result of her hard work, she deserves applause

[+4, -1] Can she bring back f(x) please...

[+4, -1] She's done a lot for our country. She was a main figure in developing K-Pop and raising its quality.

[+4, -2] Her talent is truly amazing. She has never once produced an idol group that has flopped. She truly is self-made.

Could Lee Soo Man be making moves in China?

Video: Lee Soo Man has set up an entertainment agency in China after promising retirement with Hybe?

Source: K-Pop Idol Trainer via YouTube

[+504] As expected of the Honorary Chinese Lee Soo Man

[+400] If he's truly setting up an entertainment agency there, I just hope he doesn't betray us by giving them all our trade secrets

[+389] He is becoming senile, it's pathetic to watch

[+327] At this rate, Lee Soo Man is a CCP promotional agent

[+218] It's amazing how someone so wealthy, talented, and successful can be so sad like this

[+177] Lee Soo Man makes me want to ughhh

[+169] Lee Soo Man is so consistent with his love for China ㅋㅋ

[+137] Does he have a secret love child in China or something? Why's he so obsessed with that country.

[+97] Even while under SM, Lee Soo Man has always said things like how China needs to be the Hollywood of the East, so I'm not surprised byt his at all. I also bet you that he thinks the best revenge he can get against SM is setting up a Chinese version over there and stealing from SM's pie.

[+87] If this is true, where the bounds of his greed...

[+72] He's obviously free to do whatever he wants anywhere in the world but I think what people find worrying about this is that he has never been transparent about his finances under SM and has been caught multiple times filling his own pockets... he will always value his personal wealth over the good of our country...

[+72] That agency has probably always been around, he's just now choosing to run it himself. This is sad to watch.

[+68] He needs to consider his age and stop being so greedy. Does he want to paste Yuan bills all over his coffin when he leaves this Earth? I know that greed is limitless but it seems especially bad for him.

[+65] His greed in his old age knows no end, he will never be satisfied

[+52] The Chinese industry will just suck his ideas dry and throw him out... He needs to stop being so naive.

[+35] There's a reason people always say to take your exit while everyone's still applauding

[+29] His greed ahs no end.. and now he looks even sadder crossing the line like this

[+7] This is why it's always best to end things on positive terms. He has such a vibrant history as one of the creators of the Korean entertainment industry, and he hasn't been able to retire in a more dignified manner.

Shin ramyeon sales are soaring in the American market

Article: Americans have been eating up spicy ramyeon... Nongshim enjoys 86% jump in sales

Source: SBS Biz via Naver

[+486, -7] They need to take out the Hanja used in the logo or the Chinese kids are going to start claiming it as theirs

[+360, -22] You know what else will increase sales? Teach the white people about crushing the dry ramyeon noodles and sprinkling the soup packet over it.

[+159, -4] This is great news. The more popular Korean products become, the better impression foreigners will have of our country. Our corporations will also get more respect and earn more trust for the merit of being Korean.

[+83, -8] The ones they sell in the US and the ones they sell here taste different
- [+10] Most products go through localization

[+12, -4] Shinramyeon is honestly so good ㅠㅠㅠ

[+10, -4] Shinramyeon is truly daebak, but I've switched over to Jinramyeon. It's a charming little packet.

[+7, -1] I've always enjoyed Shinramyeon for its spiciness but jumped ship after 20 years for Jinramyeon because their noodles are chewier... Shinramyeon should develop bouncier noodles...

[+6, -0] I live in Canada. I noticed tonkatsu ramen being sold at Costco and realized it's Nongshim's upon closer look ㅋㅋㅋ

[+10, -5] People often go and try all of the different varieties but always end up back at Shinramyeon...

[+6, -1] So Americans have finally realized how tasty Korean ramyeon is... it's delicious

[+5, -1] K-Food is really doing a lot for getting our country out there. Our food has such a deep taste with tons of variety. I truly think our cuisine has the potential to take over the world if we market it well.

[+4, -1] Let them know about Teumsae ramyeon

[+2, -0] Once you fall into the trap of K-ramyeon, there's no getting out

-
